About the Role
The Cost Engineer is responsible for identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities throughout the product lifecycle. The role collaborates closely with R&D, Project Management, Purchasing, and Operations to optimize product costs, improve manufacturing processes, support target costing activities, and enhance overall competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse BOM and create roadmap strategy for reducing cost, propose solutions and supports purchasing for assessing different suppliers;
Analyse processes to improve overall VSM and reduce effort and investments;
Interface between R&D and Stihl RP for topics concerning feasibility, manufacturability and process technologies regarding cost impact;
Support Project Management team for evaluating new project data;
Establish cross functional view and database for target costing approach within the product projects;
Evaluating competitor products from the same segment to challenge internal cost reduction potential;
Executes any other orders given by the hierarchical superior in the realization of the company's short-term strategies, within the limits of compliance with the legal basis and the requirements of the quality system.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in engineering;
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Project Management, Engineering or a similar position;
Project Management skills;
Presentation skills;
Experience in Target costing methodologies;
Lean, PFMEA, DFMEA, CAD software, Microsoft Package, MES, S/4 HANNA knowledge beneficial.
Team player, results‑driven, flexible, and adaptable, embracing change;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Advanced written and spoken English; German is a plus.
