Our client is an international group looking to strengthen its legal department with a newly created, strategic role at the intersection of law, operations, and change management.
About the Role
We are looking for a Legal Operations Manager to develop and implement, in close collaboration with stakeholders, the legal operations roadmap - translating objectives and priorities into concrete action plans, and driving, monitoring, and reporting on progress.
This position is based in Bucharest, Iași, Cluj-Napoca, or Timișoara, Romania.
Work mode: Hybrid for the Bucharest and Iași locations; Full remote for the Cluj-Napoca and Timișoara locations.
Key Responsibilities
Budget management: Contribute to building and tracking the legal department's budget; identify, collect, and report on key budget performance indicators, while maintaining and improving tracking tools.
Legal function optimization: Support the Head of Legal in defining the legal department's organization for optimal functioning; design and implement processes, organizational models, and workflows to improve quality and efficiency; support recruitment, training, and retention efforts for legal talent.
Knowledge management: Manage and continuously improve the legal department's document management system to ensure reliable, complete, and up-to-date data access at all times; develop sustainable self-service options to support the business and improve legal risk management and responsiveness; support legal counsel in organizing periodic training on relevant topics.
Process and digital tools: Collaborate with the Head of Legal to build and implement the department's technology roadmap; drive adoption of IT projects such as digitalization and business/communication tools; stay current on legal-tech trends.
Change management: Support new projects and initiatives, particularly IT-related, with a dedicated change management strategy; develop and deliver training on new tools, software, and processes.
KPI tracking: Design, monitor, and regularly report on key performance and activity indicators for the legal function.
Vendor management: Maintain the selection and management program for external resources; evaluate outsourcing opportunities to help manage workload fluctuations and free up legal counsel for higher-value work.
Key Requirements
Master's degree (Master 2) in Law.
2-10 years of relevant experience with a solid understanding of legal department operations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Project management skills.
Familiarity with legal-tech tools.
Ability to represent and elevate the legal function within the organization.
Availability for occasional travel (approximately once a month, France and/or Romania).
